27°C!

Journal Entry: Sun May 11, 2008, 6:57 AM
I've been enjoying the weather this weekend, since it's been almost too hot outside. Yesterday, my friend and I went on a picknick together, and we went down to the lake. It was almost funny how many kids had dragged their parents down there to swim, even though the water was freezing.

We were there for about two hours, I think, and then later in the evening we had a small barbecue. It was really nice. ^^ The temperature yesterday was about the same as today, 27°C (roughly 80°F). Today I've been working in the garden, trying to get a tan (I can't just lie in a chair all day, I don't have the patience), so I'm really exhausted right now. XD And I have school work to do, but I'm too tired to do that. -__- We're having our national tests in math, and soon in French as well. The first math test I did didn't go too well... And that was the easier one! XD So I just have to do well on this test, or else I'm not sure what's going to happen with my grade! ;__; And the tests in French won't go well at all, since I suck. We're having an oral test, and a reading test... That'll be interesting! XD

On a brighter note, I found out my grade in History A, and I'm very happy with it too. ^^ And I've recieved my schedule for summer (job), and it looks like I'll be working 23 days, which is fine, as long as it's not much more than that. I'm a bit nervous, but I hope that I'll be able to do a good job. I'm just gonna try and take it as it comes, really. I always spend so much time worrying about everything, it's so silly.

You know, I know she's a good actress, and I can see how you like her... But since she was Bellatrix... XD I just can't like her that much. I cry every time I watch that bloody scene at the end of OotP. I'm sorry sweetie! ^^ XD

I could do some advertising though, if you want to. ^^

Thank you so much for faving my piece 'Grace'. I was thrilled to recieve a DD (obviously, giggles)! I think I owe it to the beautiful photography of *SynaptikMisfire which is the background, but I am overwhelmed by this huge honour, thank you so much for your support!

Oh, fair enough.. xD Well some families I know like to take shoes off at the door - we do it to keep the floors/carpets clean mainly, but some families dont mind and leave them on.. I guess it depends where you go :giggle:

Totally! It's like £1000 for a one way flight out there.. :faint:

Aye indeed.. xD Getting paid = the one bonus of work :lmao:

Well Im sure it wont be too expensive, you live in the EU dont you? ^_^ I'm sure there'll be flights and such :D

Well, apparentely they didn't, even though their floors were covered in carpet. :D

Yes, but I wouldn't mind going to Japan for a few weeks though. I just wish it wasn't so expensive! T__T

Aah, I need to go Nothern England! I just really want to travel somewhere right now, just to get away from life here, school and all. It would be so relaxing and refreshing. I'm just so terribly tired of school right now, even though I don't have school until the week after the next one. It feels as if it will never end! XD And then, when you don't have school, you work instead. Well, at least you get paid for working!

Haha, I think I'm going to check out how much it would cost to go to England... I can always dream XD

Indeed :) That is important and it's a really big shame theres little or no emphasis on it here.. :/

They were confused when you took off your shoes at the door? Why..? Many English people (almost everyone I know) do that too.. xDDD

Im fascinated by Japan too but yes, its the complete contrast in cultural behaviours and the language and stuff that deter me from delving into it x_x;

Ah, cool ^^ French is probably a good language to learn, I would have really liked to enjoy and know it but I didnt enjoy the lessons and like you didnt find the teachers great xD

Well here today is foggy but for the past 3 days we've had unbroken sunshine *laughs* You do get some really nice weather here.. yes its rainy too but thats true all over England.. *shrugs* ^_^ So yes indeed, we have warm summer days up here :) Its so so beautiful in summer <33

Oh, that's too bad. Wild flowers are so pretty, I loved picking flowers when I was little.

I think it's important to show an interest in other countries, that you want to learn and understand other cultures as well, if you get what I mean. And it's fun to be able to communicate with people from other countries in their own language. It's a great feeling, actually. So it's indeed too bad that learning a foreign language isn't more important over there.

I am also very fascinated by Japan, but it's just so far away, and the language seems complicated. They have a completely different culture over there as well, with all the honorifics for example, compared to Sweden. We don't even use the Swedish equivalent of Mr, Mrs and Ms anymore, and we call our teachers by their first names. Haha, I can still remember the look on our English host family's faces when we entered their home for the first time, and took our shoes off at the door. I didn't understand why they were confused at our behaviour until months later. :XD: But it's fun, to learn about differences like that, especially when you've never realised that small things like that aren't always the same in other countries.

I've studied French for a while, although I hate it now. I know it's not completely his fault, but our current teacher is the worst teacher I've ever met. Ugh, I don't even want to think about it. But anyway, I am definitely not fluent in French, but I can read some and understand spoken French a little. I've studied Spanish for a while as well, but I didn't like it much, so I didn't continue my studies.

I think living in the north sounds lovely, although I'm not too sure about the weather! :XD: I've always lived in the south of Sweden, which has about the same weather as the very south of England (or so I thought at least), and that is what I'm most used to. But surely you must have sunny, warm summer days up there in the north as well? I'm sure I would feel completely lost in London, since I guess I kind of grew up in the country and think Stockholm is a huge city...

Thank you for the suggestions ^ ^:hug:

Yes, theyre very pretty ^^ I cant say I know what a windflower is though.. but you cant pick wild flowers in britain anyway, it's illegal ^_^;

Ah ok.. :) We start studying English straight away when we enter first/primary school.. but.. for foreign languages.. some schools start at about age 6, some start in secondary school at about age 11... some dont teach them at all ^_^; People become "lax" and lazy because the entire world learns English, so its seen as unnecessary for ourselves to learn other peoples languages. I dont think it's very good.. I think there should be more emphasis on foreign languages from a very young age :( If I could choose any country in the world to study..? I'd choose England.. xD Not because I think it's the best, or anything like that (It most certainly isnt, hehe..) but I'm just a homebird! I'm not keen on growing up or spending really long amounts of time elsewhere and things.. ^^; For languages - I studied French when I was young (hated it. I was really bad it, it never made sense), and when in secondary school I then studied German :) Perhaps then I should have gone to study in germany, they have a very good education system :) I think studying in America would be cool because the system there seems so different and that would be good to experience, and I would also be interested in studying in Japan - I cant speak the language or anything, but the culture fascinates me ^^ Do you study any other languages apart from English?

Cool :D Gosh.. I have no idea where I'd recommend to go! :giggle: It depends what you want from the place you intend to study.. ^^; If you want to be near the hub of life, go for somewhere near London.. but its (In my opinion, lol) a stinking, great, dirty, unsafe city and.. I would never go there to live, if I had the choice.. I myself live up in thr North of England :) There are some really spectacularly beautiful geographical landscapes here and it's my favourite place of all ^^ The city of Leeds is nearby and it's very modern, and lively, and has pretty much all you can want - plus its in the middle of London, which is south, and Edinburgh, which is in Scotland to the north so.. its in easy reach of many places and has excellent transport links.. But.. yes.. it really depends what you want from a place.. Each part of England will have something different, like.. we have lots of hills... the south is flat... at the coast you obviously have the sea... Some parts are lively, others are in the countryside so theyre relaxed and quiet.. it's a very diverse country, to say it's so small :giggle:

Ah ok ^^
